Yes John, a lot of people forget we have been there, we were bombed out three times and shunted all over the country with our canvas labels and cardboard gas mask boxes. Doesn't mean I hate everyone for evermore.

Re: Am I right or wrong
What I remember most are the people of that era Ivan , they all spoke as one person never openly complained and all pulled together as one . I was a frequent visitor to Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital, and getting across London was done mainly by the Underground railway system. People lived down there and had their designated bed space and people actually smiled and joked about it. My mother was a trained government fitter and turner and worked for Hawker Hurricane and had her assigned lathe in their factory. My sister born during the war had a Mickey Mouse gas respirator and I had a grown up one , I decided I wanted a Mickey Mouse one as well but was told I was a big boy now and they were for babies only.We all had our Cross to bear. None of us were innocent we all hated the Germans it was part of our growing up., civilians or not we are what we are. We take sides . We were not conscientious objectors . Cheers JS
Further to dislike of Germans which only lasted until I grew out of it , was in 1964 I was chief mate on the Pennyworth an ore carrier and spent Christmas 1965 in a port many may know Oxelosund in Sweden to load ore for the uk. Over the holiday period there was little or no loading done , and I happened to meet a German of my same age and his Swedish wife not long married. He was a very friendly bloke and open to discussion about the war years . Had no holdbacks about saying his father was an ex SS man and showed me his ceremonial dagger among a lot of other things passed on to him on his fathers death , what really got me was his wife spoke no German and he spoke no Swedish and they had to communicate in English . I often wonder if they stayed married and learned to speak the others natural language. Or if they had kids they were bewildered as me at times as a kid when my old man broke into broad Geordie and my mother answered in Gaelic and neither of them knew what the other was talking about , to me it was all double Dutch. Re: Am I right or wrong
There is that corruption sentence hanging over Netinyaho? which I think keeps him from stopping this so called war, which seems more like the elimination of the Palestine State, as is shown by the clearing out of the Palestinian's in the settlements where he has total support from Israeli settlers who want the lands there, don't be surprised if there is a civil war in Israel, after all the Israeli army shot dead two of the hostages under a white flag, who's to say they didn't use Hamas guns to shoot the others, even Isreali's are getting suspicious of the reasons Netingyahoo is continuing the war despite world wide condemnation.

Re: Am I right or wrong
# 5 Gaza has a Hamas Palestinian government if the people do not want them then they should put them out . All Hamas has to do is come out of the sewers like rats and lay down their arms. This has always been the case . All fighting would then cease , the Israeli statement at the start of hostilities would then have been achieved . If you cannot see that then your promotion to lance corporal will be delayed. Cheers JS.

Re: Am I right or wrong
Latest bit of news about this.
There is a strip of land between Egypt and Gaza, not very wide, about 10 meters or so and about 40 klm long.
The UN and all govs say the lane should be not be controled.
But Notayahho says unless Israel can control it he will not consider a peace treaty.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Maybe should make it an animal sanctuary for venomous snakes and the likes , anyone convicted of a crime would be sentenced to serve time there. Should talk Trump into building a wall on both sides of the area. JS

Hi John.
I just finished a book about the second world war, and the attempt on Hitlers life, they where all hung on meat hooks, the Ordinary Palestinians would probably suffer the same fate if they attempted that.

Re: Am I right or wrong
Good reason for that Des causes the blood to drain to the toes. Fix a tap to the big toe and invite Dracula to dinner. Joking aside that’s what they do with carcasses what’s good for an animal , should be good for the human species as well. Or maybe they made black pudding with the blood, that is an acquired taste especially on toast. There are various ways of being sure one is dead apart from swinging from a meat hook the best one I know is the seaman’s one of when sewing up a body for burial at sea , the last stitch is always through the nose , this serves two purposes if he doesn’t sit up and say ouch that hurts and you run screaming out of the room, then it stops him sliding down the canvas and not going overboard all shipshape and Bristol Fashion. If you have made a good job of it , then it’s tots up if the skipper is a drinking man. Cheers JS
Talking about death in its many forms and the job of getting rid of the carcass varies religion by religion , having sailed with Indian crews which must have the largest variety of such , the Parsees of India commonly known amongst a lot of the locals as the Jews of India , as are originally from Persia now Iran , when dead they are laid out on their Temple Roof and are eaten by the well known Shite Hawks of that fair country. The other religion spelt wth Asterisks if their head is removed before or after death then they will never get admittance to the holy land and their 40 virgins JS
