The exiles: secretly deported
Program on sky channel 174 tonight 9.05pm about Asian seamen who served in the British merchant navy during the WW1 who'd settled in Liverpool and were suddenly and forcibly deported leaving behind wives and family who thought they had been deserted.
Could be an interesting watch.

Re: The exiles: secretly deported
Hi Michael
Was on TV down here about two or three years ago, can't remember if it was part of the Liverpool at war thing and it's aftermath, a terrible thing for a Govt to do, probably panic as Mao took control of China at the defeat of the Japs.

Maybe that is why so many illegals are entering UK, getting their own back.

Yes John - the way things are going its only a matter of time before "Great" Britain becomes part of the Indian Empire as revenge for the Victorian Raj. This and future generations paying the price of what our ancestors did. No member of of my family or me, ever invaded anywhere, we never had a slave, we never raped pillaged and plundered. Me - not guilty. BUT we are paying the price.

Re: The exiles: secretly deported
Britain had the greatest empire the world has ever seen. Why? Not bad for a little island with not many people tucked away in a tiny sea. Perhaps if the British people espoused the ideas and work ethics in force then, we would be a damn sight better off. If you want something done then bloody well do it and don't fart about or worry about what any other bugger thinks.

Migration to Oz now sees India as the biggest numbers.
But they bring well educated and professional people, particularly in the medical field.

Re: The exiles: secretly deported
On a visit to Liverpool a few yrs ago I came across this it was very well documented. Those I suppose were the times, yet I find it very hard to stomach even now.
