Default Seafarers killed in rocket attack on merchant ship

Only 20 crew, mainly phillipino. Reports seem to indicate that the rest of the crew have abandoned ship and a lifeboat is reported as being seen near the vessel.

I am sure there is enough power within many nations to do something about this.
It is costing shipping companies a fortune to go around the Cape.
Yet all sit back and do little about it, yes some Naval presence there but not enough to do the job.
Too many nations just not willing to help.

That is a very narrow space off Aden going into or out of the Red Sea, even backward people like the Houties can't miss those ships, you would think the owners would reroute them. The c continuing war in Palestine is not helping matters.

I would say no, purely on the fact sea room is severely restricted and most ships will be sitting targets.Ocean passages yes as convoys can scatter. Even so today and for many years past a convoy spread over 10 square miles say any nuclear attack would generally be air bursts to take out as many ships as possible in one attack. JS

Picture of the ship after the attack, looks like the accommodation took a hit, causing the loss of life.

I'm very surprised that Egypt has not started the protest the attacks on shipping, It must be really effecting their revenue for all ships rerouting....

Karachi Harbour December 1971 MV Harmattan (J&C Harrisons London) struck by a missile from an Indian Navy vessel INS Vinash as an attack on Karachi harbour during the India /Pakistan war .

[Indian attack on the port of Karachi on the night of 8/9 December 1971 under the codename Python. A squadron of Indian Navy's Osa missile boats approached the Karachi port and launched a series of Soviet-acquired Styx missiles, that resulted in further destruction of reserve fuel tanks and the sinking of three Pakistani merchant ships, as well as foreign ships docked in Karachi. (Wiki)]

My good friend Colin Gemmell was on the Harmattan as 2nd Engineer and was killed. I had left the Harmattan having sailed with Colin the trip before and had returned to sea on the Harpagus.
The Harmattan was a total loss and scrapped out.
