My Old Man
I think it all started when i was around 15 years old, I new my father had been at sea in the Merchant Navy and had come ashore
when I was born in 1946.
One Day when everybody was out I went into my parents bedroom to check out an old suitcase of my father and found stuff from his Navy days. An old Black wooden doll caught my eye as he had written the names of all the Ports he had been to all around the
world. I knew then I would be going to sea myself one Day.
Years later I was given the doll by my father as I had a Small collection of ships antiques. On closer inspection I found some of the
ships names so started to check out each one on the internet and found that it was a wonder that I am here at all as quite a few
of the ships he was on did not make it through the 2nd world war either being bombed, torpedoed or Fitting a Mine, seems
he managed to change ships at the right time.
