John, there are those who cannot be educated into any form of sensibility.
Their way or the highway only.
Must be a bit lonely up there in that part of the world.
But as seamen did we all not leave the country at some time??

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

John the man is an attention seeker .....hellbent on getting attention ....he has now been on this seamans site under at least 3 guises .....and of course names ....each day he looks for some thing or other to cause discontent ....he at one stage rang my home number and decided he would call at my home on his way north on a motor bike.......i told him to F... OFF...he screamed like a woman fetching off....a very troubled speciman of lifes rich pattern.....at sea he would have been given short shrift ......his views on this site are recognised by comments on anything he spouts from his world of pain .....ie zilch .......he of course will delight in his reading of this as he cops for his attention deficit for the day........CAPPY R683532

Should have let his tyres down Cappy and then offered him a bed in your shed for a 100 pound a night, after all before joining the site he supposedly lived in Dubai or somewhere similar but would not elaborate , made no difference as soon as he started it was all so familiar all that is missing is the brogue , Cheers JS

Re: International transport federation , ITF
NUMAST travelled to Rotterdam and arrived onboard with a spokesman from Sealand Containers. He was there to discuss what we wanted as regards a salary increase for the coming year. He got up and introduced himself and to be fair he did not beat about the bush. He said he had been informed by numast that we would accept a pay award based on the NMB agreement. Straight in he said, right this is the new deal. 12.5% pay cut and and leave ratio cut from 15 days a month to 10 days a month. That's it take it or leave it. The NUMAST rep looked at his feet and said nothing. I asked him what NUMAST intended to do about fighting our corner. Response was nothing our hands are tied.
I packed my bags and walked off, ship was Panama flag so did not give a toss about breaking the so called ships articles. As I was waiting on the Quay for a taxi the Sealand guy stopped and gave me a lift to the Airport. He told me that the vessels total compliment would be replaced by a Filipino crew within 3 months the master & Chief Engineer would be replaced within 6 months. That is why I say NUMAST were in the companies pockets and were as much use as a chocolate fire guard
I cannot remember what the monthly or Annual subscription was to NUMAST was, but that was the day I cancelled my membership and direct debit.
Oh yes I did receive threats that I would find it difficult to find employment elsewhere in the future lol. They must have failed to let Brenda Silver know as I had a job lined up before I flew out of Rotterdam airport that day.
Only decent thing about NUMAST was the Monthly news paper they produced.Concerning legal representation there was a ceiling on the amount they would agree to cover.
