Building the Titanic, channel 4
Anyone watch this last night.
Using original film remastered and colourised along with photographs , it explored in detail the building of the Titanic and her two sisters, from start of the reasons for their building , through design showing the drawing loft, the innovative equipment used to shape and build it's structures, parts of the hull being rivited using a hydraulic press, even the actual slipway and associated structures were very innovative.
Gave a good insight into Harland and Wolff's and Belfast in the early 20th century.

Think it has been on TV before John. If it is the programme I am thinking of it is well worth a watch. I visited the Titanic center a few years ago. Well worth a visit. The actual slipway she was built on is still there and forms part of the Titanic story.
Talk about milking the cow, there is even a Titanic distillery.

Have seen it before, quite interesting, but the female narrator annoyed the hell out of me as she described 'the boat' going down the slipway, two of the male narrators were like overgrown schoolboys. Yes I am a miserable old fart!

Not tried it yet, but being an Irish whiskey I would expect it would be top class. Certainly better than that blended stuff they produce in Scotland.

Most blended ones are often second quality.
Single malt is far better; but yes the stuff from Ireland is excellent.
All to do with the peat bogs and the water from around them.

Happy daze John in Oz.

A lot of the highly regarded and common brands of Irish whiskey are blends. A basis of cheap grain alcohol mixed with a variety of single malts. So it all comes back to your personal palate and depth of pocket.

My cousin is a director of the Powerscourt Distillery and I'm fortunate that he sometimes sends me a bottle of "Fercullen" which is superb. I've got a hankering to taste "The Long Marriage" (House of Hazlewood) just for the hell of it but at £4,000/ bottle, it ain't going to happen.
