    Default Sea temperature

Many so called experts say the world's sea temperatures have been rising for hundreds of not thousands of years, but
The U.K metrology society have only been recording sea temperatures since 1854 when ships captains were asked to record temperature and current and put their results in a sealed bottle and throw it overboard, anyone picking up the bottle were asked to send the contents back to the U.K met office. The met office only started weather forecasts after a steamer was caught in a violent storm in the Irish sea, wrecked on the Isle of Man with a large loss of Life. The Met office headquarters in Exeter featured in an episode of flog it on BBC, where the public bring their antiques in to be valued by experts and then sold at auction.

Paleoclimate scientists can tell what the weather was like and for how long as much as 4.6 billion years ago. They have many methods from mountain strata, ice which forms layers which they can tell when and for how long which can be transferred to ocean temperatures, tree rings, layers formed in rocks. They mainly tell from ocean core samples of the oceans floor and the layers of fossils that were set in layers when and how long, known time when the tiny creatures existed and for how long, they have many methods. It is an exact science and not speculation.

Have no doubt of your source findings Rodney but the cynic in me loathes how Al Gore suddenly became the font of all knowledge on the Earths Climate whilst looking for an income having lost the Presidential Election.... Then every other so called celeb and halfwit IMHOjumped on the bandwagon. Now most of the Green fraternity out and about cause the general public here - no end of mischief which costs the British taxpayer for their shenanigans. Considering the UK has one of the lowest emmisions and the US has not - logic tells me AL Gore & Co should start on their own Country first including China etc etc. I literally cannot do anymore than I do already to help the planet, therefore, the green brigade and their leftie luvvies can all go and whistle as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't seen Al Gore in Maui, and so far Old Joe hasn't made an appearance, I think he means to, but then forgets where he is meant to go when tripping to his helicopter, maybe to busy cosying up to former enemy Japan to fight former Ally China. maybe upset as China hasn't been forthcoming with sons money,

#3 The usual politicians ploy Marian to keep his name above water and in the public’s eye in the hope of merging back into the lucrative profession of politics at some future date. I am all for cleaning up the quality of air we breathe especially for asthma sufferers but increasing the laws in the clean airs act should surely have been the start of the campaign and not jumping straight in with “ the end is nigh”. We live in a world today of mirrors and half truths , people in general are showing initiative here and there and starting to think it’s about time for a bit of honesty and truth. Cheers JS

Marion. I agree with many points of your post. In particular Al Gore, as by the way a large part of the US voting and regular Americans do. Mostly we form opinions based on our core beliefs and sometimes the two running for president match neither.

You will notice I don't voice opinions on British politics or the Royal family, and please don't think I am condemning you for your opinions on the USA, I most definitely don't. Though I served in the Merchant Navy for just under five years, and the training I received from UCL shot me to the very top of my profession and ultimately able to retire at 46. I don't comment on British polotics.

I have definite opinions on politics and Royalty, but I am an American by choice and this site is British and I am a guest on this site and know my place. I have said this many times. Democrats are about equal to your Conservatist party, Republicans are further to the right, therefore both are more conservative than the British parties. The right wing of the Republican party (like Trump and his core of voters are close to a political Atilla the Hun party in my view).

I am politically a centrist and known as Roadkill, or a Switch hitter (a baseball term for a batter that can hit left or right). You see I vote for who can do the most for me.

Al Gore would nationalize everything he could, Donald Trump would turn us into a fascist state, neither is acceptable to me.

Donald Trump was unknown to most until he had a book, ghost written for him, about what a business genius he was, which became a best seller and then tv show were apparently he sat behind a desk and interviewed three would be Entrepeneur's and said to two of them "Your fired. " And the third was given working-capital (by the sponsor, not him). America (the tv watchers) loved him, dynamic, no-nonsense, cold-hearted businessman. Bullshxx to those who knew of him.

He lived in Manhattan, New York City. I worked in Manhattan and lived in the nearby state of Connecticut for seven years and the tv stations came out of NYC. There are two other states that get their daily news out of Manhattan, New York and New Jersey. He was well known in these three States. He was the ONLY owner of gambling casinos that has filed for bankruptcy, it is impossible! Yet he managed it. The Casino makes roughly 2o% of every gambling dollar, breaks even on food sales, and covers other costs with profit from bar sales, it's impossible to lose, but Trump managed it on two casinos and Trump Airline, He filed for bankruptcy on all three of them, so much for being a business genius. He lost the vote in each of these three states, but the rest of America didn't know him. Those three states did know his business records and his women scandals, he lost all three.

I would neither vote for either Gore or Trump, or Hillory Clinton, but against Trump, I voted for Hillory Which is like saying do you want toothache or cancer, I chose toothache.

Trump has still control of the right (conservative) wing of the republicans, which is 42% of the Republican party there are something like 14 candidates sharing a piece of the remaining pie or 58%. So I don't know how he can lose being nominated to be the standard bearer. If he does win the primaries, he will have about 30% of the 51% he would need to win. I'm worried that it will be Joe Biden, not that he is doing a bad job, it's he's too old. He would be 82 when elected and 86 at the end of his term.

I'm 86 and fit, I walk every morning and do three sets of exercise, push-ups, leg lifts etc. and have to do shopping, housecleaning, laundry ect. and I'm nodding off at 8pm and can hang in until 9:30pm and then its lights out. I can't imagine working a twelve-hour high stress job and being woke up to hear Turkey has bombed Japan, "What should we do?".

    Cheers Rodney

Trump has 14 charges, 4 criminal against him, coming to trial early next year, some back-to-back. Do you know he can be elected while in prison?

Don't know much about the reasons for the Earth warming, when it started or how it will finish, but I do think that the the eight years that they were experimenting with the Atom bomb in the Pacific starting from 1948 and exploding 66 Hydrogen and or Atom bombs in atmospheric tests definitely wouldn't have helped. And with the firing off of all those rockets since will have had some effect .

Rodders, you do not have to explain your position to nay one if you do not which so.
You are not a 'guest' here on site, rather a valuable member with some very good insight to the UA and how it should work, not so much as how.

As to sea temps and the 'story' of rising sea levels.

Yes records may go back but when I hear the French say we have records that go back as far as 1950 I just wonder.
As to sea levels, we regularly go to the coast and despite comments by one member who does not think it possible, water levels are no different to when I first saw them in 1964.
Problem for most is the media, their mains source of info, much of which is based not on fact but on selling copy.
Look back at genuine records and see that much of what happens now has done so before.,

Latest about the Canadian bush fires,' this is climate change at it's worst'
But maybe it is natures way of regeneration.
Forests just like people need to regenerate to bring in new life.
Firs started by a simple act such as a lightening strike,

So for me records from my mate who spent 40 years in the met office and can produce all manner of recrds for me.

It has all happened before and will do so again.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

G'day Cobber, how is your tidal measuring stick reading these days!!!

As global sea temperatures increase sea levels will rise simple. NASA and other agencies agree sea levels are rising at an alarming rate 3.3 mm
As water heats up it expands assume you agree? Why are sea temps on the up, Greenhouse effect

    hi john #8
good evening, remember that old song Have you got a light boy, well its called a match, and considering people where nicked last year, and again this year in europe for lighting fires im sure they never used two sticks to rub together as for hawaii they couldnt even get water to fight the fires as the authority was worried about wasting it, also the authorities where trying to buy up the burnt out remains for a cent on the dollar,i believe its called reparations,
as the natives i believe are going to relcaim the land.
