Don't know much about Global warming, but it went down to minus 7 here last night; and we are supposed to be in the start of Spring.
Mind you just as well that MT Victoria in Hong kong is rock or it may have been washed away in that storm.

#91. The thing is Des no one does. The world will go the way it has to go and does not need man’s intervention to try and prevent the disaster that some envisage. The Dinasaurs disappeared millions of years ago and so will man , they are relatively short times in the life span of the earth. The Sun has an estimated 14 million years left and when that goes if all human life hasn’t been gone already they certainly will then ,but no doubt will be different creatures by then. The way things stand today being bi sexual will be normal , it is nearly there already , how do you fancy giving birth ? It’s what the second largest religion in the world believes , it’s what they wear the baggy pants for. Anyhow believe what you want it’s still legal until they invent a machine that can read your mind and some despot gets their hands on to change it . Cheers JS
Well I suppose they could always tow an Ice Berg around the Oceans ,might help lol. They were going to try that for the Arabian Gulf a lot of years ago for fresh water :mymy:
So there we were in the 1960' being told the 70's would bring an ice age!!!!!
Yesterday we were told that this northern summer is the hottest on record, but no mention of when the record began.
France says theirs goes back to 1950, India sad they have some that go back to 1890.
Some say only from 1948 counts when a global recognized system came into being.
So take your choice.
Then in 1878 the first record was made by a guy from Germany, bit scratchy but beggars cannot be choosers.
But wait there is more, emissions during the industrial revolution were not as high as now according to one report, but mate we are now using less toxic materials so how come??
Yes but once you made gas from coal and burned the coke, now you put coke on your rum and use gas from the sea.
Next question please, yes you up the back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post #95 H.D. John. The part on the German caught my eye. I have said before the era of the sailing ship has always fascinated me. I seem to recall that the German Maritime Bureau in the second part of the Eighteen Hundreds set up a system to record weather conditions across the world. Merchant ship captains kept a daily log on weather conditions etc.
When they returned to Germany the Bureau collated the information. On the commence of a voyage the Captain would receive a document indicating where the best course for the time of year may be found.
I have had a search on the internet and found this. 1868 Norddeutsche Seewarte. (North German Naval Observatory ) (1868) The site has a large address I hope this is correct.
