It looks like ne regulations on the carriage of E. V. 's is very much on the agenda with the IMO. Only problem is no one seems to have any idea on how to contain a fire in a lithium battery.

A report just released here today in Oz throws doubt of the cost of renewables lowering the cost of power.
In most instances new power lines will need to be replaced, the current grid is not suited to renewables for some reason.
The cost of such was not factored in by the companies building the solar and wind farms.
But why would they, all they want to do is build and reap the profits.
It makes me wonder what the hold up is in developing more tidal powered stations.
Currently there are only 2 operating in the UK.
How widely is tidal power used in the UK? There are (as of February 2021) only two operational tidal power stations operating within the UK: MeyGen, on the Pentland Firth in Scotland, is operational but not fully completed, while Bluemull Sound in the Shetland Isles is also operational.
Tide comes in and out twice a day in most places, I don't know the limiting factors for powering water driven turbines. One would think though that rivers like the Severn, Mersey, Trent,Thames, Medway, Spey. I am sure there are many more. % of UK power generation is 37% wind, Hydro 21%, BioMass 22% and BioGas 20%
Scotland seems to developing hydro powered projects more and more. New one opened last year on the river Ness.

I think you will find James that like most of the other forms of renewable it requires someone with money to finance the project.
No doubt similar in UK as here in Oz.
Large solar and wind farms being built by speculators who will make money from it.
The needs of the customer are not factored in with such plans, just to make money.
