Re: Mv fremantle highway
Remember the big Who Ha about saving the world, telling people to switch off the lights, showing New York in darkness, didn't last that long,. When these electric cars where first mooted my wife said where are they going to get all the electricity from, they can't keep up now. It seems to me that the EV cars are more trouble than they are worth. I just filled my little car up with petrol will last me around about two months. And Kieth don't worry mate I'm already 91 LoL.

Re: Mv fremantle highway
Saw that ship on fire from a distance, EV have a lot to answer for.
Childs scooter went off in a similar fashion in UK, house burned down.
Speaking with a London taxi driver.
Not a happy lot as the mayor of London has given them until 2035 to go all EV taxis.
Only get about 6 hours from them then back to depot for charge taking about 1 hour.
Extra cost in power charge to make up for loss of revenue from fuel.
When power getting low have to be careful how far they can go so have to refuse some fares.

Re: Mv fremantle highway
Just read a very interesting report that EV fires are impossible to extinquish because the batteries contain chemicals that turn into oxygen one of the main components in creating fire, or at least to keep it raging. That is why fire fighters let them burn out as apparently spraying them with water or even foam increases the intensity of the fire and the fire will only cease once the batteries have completely burnt out. Now imagine the poor seamen sailing on any one of the 998 pure car carriers now in service are sailing on a time bomb over which they have no control. That 998 does not include the thousands of ferries currently in service.
Anyone who has had a computer burst into flame (apparently their batteries contain the same chemicals) will know the high temperature generated, if this ever this happens to you then never try to put it out, it will be in the centre area of the computer so you will be able to get onto some hard standing or lawn 'outside' the house, as the temperature generated will reach in excess of 600C which will burn through anything. Sleep tight! always switch them off at the mains at night.

Re: Mv fremantle highway
Concerning computers, I am guilty of sitting with it on my lap. Noticed that lately it is getting warmer, go figure I am restricting the air flow fan intake to assist cooling. Anyway I have got into the habit of getting the vacuum out and going over fan intake just to remove any fluff dust etc!!!My old computer you could undo 4 screws and gain access to the fan. Not this one the whole back has to come off that I am reluctant to do.

Re: Mv fremantle highway
The only ones sitting in the dark are the polis who come up with some outrageous concepts that do not make sense.
Our minister for stuffing up power supply, renewable mad, said that nuclear power will never work as well as renewables?????????
Funny that considering the number of countries moving in that direction.
See UK is to build five more.

Re: Mv fremantle highway
Planning and doing ? a lot of those to be built have been stalled. Moorside Cumbria by Toshiba with drawing from the UK market.
Wylfa Newydd in Wales, January 2019 after Hitachi announced it was officially pulling the plug on its UK nuclear programme until further notice.
Oldbury Clostershire also on hold after HitachiAlso caught up in Hitachi’s decision to halt its UK nuclear business is the Oldbury-on-Severn site, on the banks of the Severn estuary in South Gloucestershire.

Re: Mv fremantle highway
Latest reports state that at least 800 vehicles may not be affected by fire damage (final decision to be made by manufacturers), they were all on the lower four decks, #5 deck was empty and only those vehicles on decks 6 -8 are affected. The next big job is getting the stern ramp down to get the cars off.
