    Default Misleading Headlines

'ROYAL NAVY SHIP SPENDS INCREDIBLE 12 MONTHS AT SEA' When you get past the headline you read that HMS 'Scott' had been away from her homeport of Devonport for 12 months surveying the Atlantic, meanwhile she had had crew changes,(every few months) port visits in Tenerife, St Lucia, Brazil, New York and others hardly 12 months at sea is it?. Give us a break! We MN signed on for 24 months with no crew changes, some ships got back to the UK before the 24 months, a lot didn't, my longest spell away was 22 months along with another 55 blokes on the same ship, the same for many other trampers.

when i see them come in from somewhere like 6 months up the gulf, arrive in Portsmouth to a band and flag waving, and usually on the local news on TV. The i used to arrive after a long trip, the only thing i got was a question *when are you going back*, but i know where i would sooner be .

Ha ha nice one, I recall sitting in a pub with my mate (2/E with Commons at the time) and his wife, who had been away with him, when someone asked her what her husband did on the ship and she replied, he fixes washing machines.
