Re: Monkey
Thread related-in a way! some twat of a member of public in Devon complained this month that a monkey on display in a cafe wearing a suit was racialist, the monkey was used as a card holder for the cafe so you could take one with you, the monkey had been on display for years without any problem. I think the complaint says more about the complainants racialist views than anyone elses, I was disappointed to note that the Cafe owners agreed to remove the monkey, I would have told him to pizz off.

Re: Monkey
Ivan, my wife wanted to know what Woke meant, I looked it up in the dictionary it wasn't listed, one of the new stupid words that are sweeping the English language. I think the restaurant owner was silly to take the monkey away, as the monkey who complained wouldn't come back anyway.

Re: Monkey
I don’t know either Des. Someone might explain. I just assumed it described a person who, should be under mental surveillance and restraint. A slow learner as it seems. JS

Re: Monkey
WOKE, whatever it may mean is a problem here in Oz.
It is used by local councils, public servants. the LGBQIT lot and m nay more.
mainly to impose on the majority by the minority something that is as useful as tits on a bull.
They want us all to think like stupid robots and follow their social insane reasoning.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Monkey
I think the word "WOKE" refers to people that have been asleep during happenings and events that others experienced and learned from, then WOKE up thinking all these happenings and events were quite normal in everyday life. It happens a lot these days, where some people are so tired from playing on their I phones while life goes on around them that they learn nothing from actual real life.
So, it's a past tense of "WAKE", when most people are "AWAKE" most of the time, hence, "WOKE" after being asleep most of the time.

The owners felt compelled to apologise too! Obviously to try and retain their business.
Oh and Google's version of woke :- 'alert to injustice and discrimination in society, especially racism:"we need to stay angry, and stay woke".
My version, being woke is for: Every leftie luvvy in the Arts, The Courts, MP's all sides but especially Corbyn, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury Spoiled sport personalities who preach and fall on their knee, sections of the Police Force, yuppy green protesters and every other fruit and nut case out there looking to be offended on our behalf.

Re: Monkey
Woke!!!
A sense of awareness to social injustice. Maybe if some of us were on the receiving end of social injustice we may have a different outlook.

Re: Monkey
The problem with that comment James is that some of those people bring it on themselves.
It is said there are some 8000 who sleep rough at night here in Melbourne and all are complaining they have been abandoned by the gov.
But all have a mobile, all get the dole, you need an address for that and a bank account, while there are businesses crying out for workers.
Own made circumstances.

Re: Monkey
Not everyone is homeless by choice John.
I was coming back from Liverpool after enjoying the atmosphere of the crowds at the Euro Vision song contest. Loads sleeping rough in and around Lime st station and also as you go down the under ground to Wirral line.
