Happy for Harland and Wolff and also our Appledore and all ships will be brought into service by 2032 !!!!! I am of course assuming that these are the RFA ships and not actual warships, not that the shipping correspondent would know the difference

Its only 2023 the Chinese would have them in service by 2024, the Koreans by 2025, is it any wonder that British Ship Owners went abroad after the SD14 series were completed. Lets hope that Appledore non demarcation rubs off on H & W

I would have thought that demarcation is well and truely back in the mists of time.

Appledore was at one time owned by Court Shipbuilders a subsidiary of Court Line.

    This from Wiki

Original yard was opened in 1855 on the Estuary of the river Torridge .The Richmond dry dock was built in 1856 by a William Yeo(Yeo shipping family)
The business was led by P K Harris & sons during the ealry 20th century until 1963 when it became known as Appledore Shipbuilders
As Vic says it was bought over in 1964 by Court Line. Court line built a new yard on a Greenfield site opening in 1970. After Courtline went bust Appledore ship yard was nationaised and became part of British Ship builders.
Down the years to today the yard had several owners.
In August 2020 it was bought by Infrastrata who owned H&W Belfast. The Yard is now known as H&W Appledore.
Hopefully both yards will flourish and they can return to being a major player in the world of ship building.

post#6 James. As A&P Appledore they acquired control of Hall Russell's of Aberdeen prior to the yard's closure.
This from a booklet on Hall Russell by a Stanley Bruce (c) who served his apprenticeship as a draughtsman in the yard.

Will never forget the day I was in the engine room of the Loch Loyal familiarizing myself when I was approached by a bloke dressed in white bib-overalls and carrying a paint can and he said to me, "Are you flat white or gloss?" I guessed my somewhat white boiler-suit put me in the paint crew.
