Sea sunday . July 9th 2023
Sea Sunday today.
To all my sea-faring friends on this site and those who have found a safe harbour after their life-long voyage. Rest in peace.
=========================
They that go down
to the sea in ships,
that do business
in great waters;
These see the
works of the LORD,
and His wonders
in the deep
Psalm 107. 23-24

Re: Sea sunday . July 9th 2023
Hi Brenda, thanks for the quote. we have certainly seen his wonders in the deep. there will be many who have seen the blue haze in the pacific. To continue the psalm: " For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves, they mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in there peril there courage melted away. they reeled and staggered like drunken men; and were at their wits end. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress, he stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their safe haven. I remember only to well going through a gale in the Atlantic just before Christmas in 1965, I was 19 and thought It was all over, but the storm was stilled to a whisper and we did get home but the ship was trashed. Time & tide.

Slightly different theme, but for me a Sunday at sea meant an extra days leave
and how they tried to dodge them.

Hello Mark,
I only quoted the first few verses as they were inscribed around the inside of the dome of the Mersey Docks & Harbour Board Building.
Now owned by Peel Holdings but the chap on the door will let you in to have a look !
