Did you know my dad, Jeffrey Hawkes
Hello all,
I am new to this site and I hope I have posted this in the right place.
My dad, Jeffrey Hawkes was at the sea training school from 24th May 1971 and after getting his catering certificate he was issued entry to the Merchant Navy on 30th July 1971. He was posted onto the Albright Pioneer ship as a Cat Boy and stayed in until the middle of 1972. His record book number was R902083.
Dad sadly recently passed away suddenly and I am writing his eulogy and I wondered if any of you knew my dad if you had any stories or photos that would be great.
His record book photo is below:

Thank you,
Vickie

Albright Pioneer 1968
Vickie
Here is a photo of your father's ship.
Didn't know your father, does his discharge book list any other ships he sailed on?.
Think the Albright pioneer was engaged mainly in the carriage of phosphoric acid from Morocco to Workington

Re: Did you know my dad, Jeffrey Hawkes
Hi John,
That's great, thank you very much. Yes, it looks like he was on the Dunadd Greenock possibly? there are 5 'Report of Character' entries in his book, the entry stamp, two that say Dunadd Greenock and two that say Albright Pioneer. Is Dunadd Greenock a ship?
Thanks again,
Vickie

Vickie
Think your father was on the Dunadd, a ship registered in Greenock, Scotland.

Re: Did you know my dad, Jeffrey Hawkes
The Dunadd was owned by J&J Denholm.
I have copies of the company magazine and if you give me the dates he was on the Dunadd I may be able to tell you the ports he went to. His discharge book will give the dates he joined and left the ship.

Re: Did you know my dad, Jeffrey Hawkes
Victoria, If you put 'Dunadd ship image' into Google you come up with this link. I should have said earlier although I sailed with the same company I did not sail on the Dunadd.

Re: Did you know my dad, Jeffrey Hawkes
Amazing, thank you.
He has certificate of discharge stamps for when he was on the Dunadd for 03/08/1971 until 24/11/1971 and 24/11/1971 -10/02/1972. After that, in March 1972 he was on the Albright Pioneer.
Really appreciate your help.
