Two kitchens Milliband
Ed Milliband (Labour) has come up with the idea that Britain should pay African countries reparation for us being an industrialised nation when they were not. For those wondering, Ed Milliband is a Labour millionaire who inherited a large house with two kitchens and proudly went on TV to show them off (sad!)
Now have these alleged developing countries not benefitted from the inventions/discoveries of the industrialised world, is it the fault of Europeans that the Europeans managed to develop certain things in the world before the Africans.
Which African country invented/discovered the following
Steam Engine/Diesel engine/petrol engine/jet engine/electricity/electric generators/freezers/submersible pumps/coal-oil-nuclear power stations/hot air balloon/aircraft/spacecraft/steamship/motorship/locomotives
/Drydocks/radio/radar/GPS/TV/penicillin/DNA/antibiotics/hospitals etc etc etc
Which developing countries have not benefitted from any of the above, did we rape them of their natural resources, that's debatable, but which African countries are now benefitting from those resources that lay in the ground unused and for which they had no use at that time, but which are now reaping rich rewards for them on export markets. That some of them are mismanaged is not Europe's fault.
Why is it that people like Milliband come up with such nonsense, why should the UK shoulder the blame for every perceived catastrophic event that occurs or is self inflicted by some mismanaged country. The UK gets accused of being slave traders, as if they were the sole slave traders in the world, The Arabs were by the biggest traders and far more Caucasians were abducted from Europe to Africa than Africans leaving Africa, the Portugeuse were the initiators together with the Arabs, of the African Slave Trade.
Mr Milliband should really brush up on his history before trying to give our country's coffers a beating with unwarranted largesse, when those coffers are sadly so badly depleted that our own people are suffering deprivations that they should have no need to in a so called developed country.
End of rant!

Re: Two kitchens Milliband
Ivan, i would agree, and if its any consolation, i am reading that the 7 million £ a day its costing to put the illegals up in hotels etc, is being deducted fro the UK aid funds, so if that is true, maybe some one is thinking in the right way.

hi ivan cloherty #1
good morning, i could stretch your rant by adding a twenty five page addition, but we are all aware of the lefts intentions of rewriting our history, not only to include the african nations of being part of the development of the civilised world,But in some cases leading scholars and scientists, when in fact they where not,as they still occupy the world we all remember when we visited their countries in the past fifty years or so ago, and although i have not been back there in nearly thirty to thirty five years i dont believe i would find much change if i where to go today.

First time in Africa was 67 years ago, last time in the 90's, when virtually every country I worked on AID relief duties in the 80's and 90's had by that time received their utopia of independence and self rule, but through politics, incompetence and in-fighting had squandered, one way or another, the riches of natural resources that could have ensued from their natural resources. They always had enough funds for arms and ordnance for their tribal in-fighting, which in my humble opinion will never cease and they will always be considered developing countries. According to the United Nations, India and Pakistan are considered developing nations, excuse me both are nuclear powers, India has a Space Program as well as having the second largest military in the world after China.
But of course our politicians of all hues know best, and if they have even ever visited these countries they have been shown what the leaders of those countries want them to see, and not the reality, whether it be positive or negative depending upon the picture they want to portray to acquire further funds from the suckers in the developed countries.

The trouble with foreign aid, is that right from the moment it's decided to give, it's shaved and shaved, then shaved again, until most of it's gone. In many cases, all of it's gone.

Re: Two kitchens Milliband
That sounds very much like those ones currently at the Cario meeting about the climate!!!!
They say the rich nations should pay the poor ones compensation for what the rich countries have done to disadvantage the poor ones.
Well I look at some of the so called poor ones such as some African nations where since they claimed independence they have gone backwards.
Or the countries such as many in the middle east who still live as they did some 2000 years ago.
But there is now here in Oz a growing number who see this call for money coming from the socialist brigade who envy the capitalists for the wealth they have created.
But how many of these socialists are in fact capitalists, men such as our state premier who will never be short of a quid.
Or the leader of the Greens who is a millionaire by all accounts.
No the likes of your Miliband, saw an article on the net about him, are the ones who claim one thing while doing the opposite.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
