Often went fishing as a young lad and with rods I had made my self.
Dad had got hold of a lot of ariels from tanks no longer needed, they made great rods and very light.

Just outside of the Red sea we decided to put a line over the side to see what we could catch.
Heavy one with a big hook the cook had made out of a meat hook.
Baited with some liver we sat and waited.
WE caught one, a bloody shark, and ended using the powered winch to pull it up.
Al 52 crew ate shark for dinner that night, we cooked nothing else.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

I had fresh cod last night, caught off Blyth at 14.30 and on my plate at 18.30, absolutely delicious; I will have to send my wife out more often.

There was one near Kwinana I was told after recounting to a shoreside guy, about a huge shark I saw whilst at anchor there. He reckoned that there was a pipeline which drained into the sea and attracted sharks every time they washed the place down.

#14. There’s a lot of two legged ones there as well Tony , 20 minutes down the freeway from me . Always smile now when hear the name Kwinana , ever since coming home from Perth a few years ago in the train, and a small boy had ants in his pants and kept asking his mother when are we getting to Banana , I’ve always called it that since . We were in Sarawak loading logs as deck cargo. The only fish we caught were those huge catfish, no one wanted to eat them so they went back over the side. A story I had often heard was if the catfish head was cut off and boiled to remove all flesh a figure of a man hanging from a cross is clearly shown in the bone structure. This is true, wish I had kept the one I had.
