Outspan

Vernon, easy to forget them, like the Grand in Cape Town.
Full as a boot when asked to leave, you remember that next day but not sure where it came from.
Spent many a good night in the Grand, problem was the security men did not like us when we had too many Brandy Squares.

Do they still sell Outspan oranges in UK I wonder?

Outspan Oranges and many other Fruits and Veges are still Exported to the UK, and many other Countries!
Its still an all time favourite amongst Millions!

I recall that when the UK first joined the EU there was concern that orange rom South Africa would no longer be available.
Looks as if they may be back now.

That might have been because people didn't realise that in addition to the Outspan variety of oranges being originally cultivated in South Africa,they are also grown in 40+ other countries.In fact before I knew the origin of Outspan oranges,as a child I always thought the name Outspan meant an Orange of Spanish origin,where indeed in Europe that's where now most come from. Perhaps South Africa should have called them Outsafs so we could know where they originally came from.


Now my mouth is watering and I want an orange.
