Thank you Peter
Have started reading the Article, it looks to be a very good and long one! Lots of old Archival Phots too.
Must have taken some time to put together, good work!
Keep Well

#1 Hi Peter, a strange coincidence. In this month's SEA BREEZES July 2022 there is a four page article on the LAURENTIA under the heading (LAURENTIA - A Very Scottish Ship.) by an ANTHONY COOKE.

Re: Donaldson Line's LISMORIA and LAURENTIA article
Strange indeed... ships like this these lived in relative obscurity and remained largely forgotten for half a century and then.... no fewer than two articles in the space of a week!
I wrote to Anthony Cooke a few weeks ago to get permission to use a photo of LAURENTIA that appeared in one of his books so yes, only became aware he had his article due out in "Sea Breezes."

Bill,
Can you provide a link to Sea Breezes, I’d like a look at the article since I sailed on her in the mid sixties.
Thanks.

Re: Donaldson Line's LISMORIA and LAURENTIA article
Capt. Alexander Bankier, master of LAURENTIA and later CAPTAIN COOK (ex-LETITIA) was an avid amateur photographer. He settled in New Zealand and his photo collection has been donated to the Auckland Library and some of it is now available on line:
https://digitalnz.org/records?text=Bankier&tab=Images
Included is this fine view of LISMORIA alongside at Glasgow taken by Capt. Bankier as he was bringing CAPTAIN COOK in on 29 May 1956, arriving from Saigon. I have added this to my article, too

Re: Donaldson Line's LISMORIA and LAURENTIA article
Many thanks, Peter, for this amazingly comprehensive review of the Anchor-Donaldson Line. It has many resonances with me. My Grandfather and Father were both Chief Engineers on ships of the Line and my Uncle was a deck officer. My cousin also sailed with the Anchor branch as an Engineer. I will email you directly, Peter, as I have some relevant material he may be interested in.

A slight error SEA BREEZES was first published in nineteen twenty, so only one hundred and two years old.
