    Hello Robert
Thank you for the kind words, i do try and help where i can, but its always so nice to get positive feedback!
I dont know if i could help you in any way regarding your Fathers Story, as regards the FFL, but if there is i would be quite willing to try.
Only thing Robert is that any correspondence would be in Private and not on here. There may be a few small things that you may want to know??
You can always Contact me through the site Email first off, that way i will get your Email address and we can go from there! But of course as said i dont know if it may be of help@???

You can just Click on my name in any post, and in the dropdown list there is an Email link you can use!
    Cheers

Came ashore after 40 years 18 months ago. Deep sea trips became coastal trips then pilotage. Missed the best years (it was all container ships to Aus/NZ) but caught the end of Port Line, QE2 and ships that actually had bars and weren't dry. Don't regret a day of it though today would physically restrain a grandson of mine if he had thoughts of going the same way. Best days are definitely gone.

In my mind Robert i would say that the 1950's into the late 1960's would have been the best Years , that is when things were in Top form all round!

Agree there Doc, i finished in 64, and at that time you could walk into the pool, and there would be plenty of ships on offer, if you didn't fancy any of them, just walk out and come back next day, kt

Vernon mate you are spot on there.
The 50;s and 60's were the best not just for ships but in general.
The world was coming out of the war, getting back to some form of normality.

I still miss many aspects of those times when life was a lot easier, none of the current day pressures

But one aspect of my time at sea still stays with me.
The afternoon nap when you could get it, refreshed you for the coming evening service.
But now it can be a problem, particularly when driving.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Ah, the afternoon nap, greatest invention ever. Developed the habit at sea, and the quick battery charge served us well. Its something i still do today, about 20min every afternoon, and wake up fresh as a daisy, my wife cannot understand it, if she sleeps in the afternoon, she wakes up and feels horrible.kt
