SS Nerissa - New Information
I'm researching the Battle of the Atlantic and the rescues that took place, and the bodies that were washed ashore, along the coast of my home county Mayo.
I have already published here.
I am now in the process of identifying some of the unknowns which I believe came ashore along the County Mayo coast from SS Nerissa between May and July 1941.
My research in the National Archives of Ireland has made it possible to identify three bodies from Nerissa that were unknown in 1941. A number of other unknowns fall into the "likely to be" category.
I will be publishing the results of my work later and I am trying to contact any surviving relatives of those that can now be identified and information regarding where they are buried. Not surprisingly, finding surviving relatives is proving very difficult.
In the meantime, I would like to know if the two stewardesses on Nerissa would have worn uniforms.
Any help appreciated.

Re: SS Nerissa - New Information
Thanks for your help.
My recent research has found that there were two adult females from Nerissa who washed ashore in Co. Mayo in May 1941.
I am trying to establish definitively whether Florence and Hilda would have worn uniforms.
It would help greatly in the possible identification of one of the two adult females washed ashore.

Re: SS Nerissa - New Information
Hi Anthony.
A very worthy cause, especially if you find some of the relatives.
