Re: Ss Syrian Prince
Robert, I have this book, Fifty Years With The Prince Line by Captain R C Proctor OBE. 9/12/1913 to 31/12/1963. The Syrian Prince he was master of in 1/5/1939 to 3/5/1942. Not the same one your father was on.

Re: Ss Syrian Prince
John Stobart, Marine Artist, Did a great painting for the Prince Line of the BLACK PRINCE leaving the London Pool, turning with a tug in front of the Tower Bridge. Lots of background views. One of my favorite paintings.
Anyone on this site aboard the Prince Line vessel during the very lengthy mourning period in Ceylon when the harbour was full of idle ships and another 40+ outside at anchor ? One of that Prince Line ship’s lifeboats ran a launch service for many of these at anchor. Think it was a three month delay overall. Had to have been around 1959. Assassination of Bandianika ( Spelling ?) Think the lifeboat was holed in heavy swell at the breakwater entrance. Always wondered what happened about that … mums the word !
