Bluddy great bang, a lot of Langstone Harbour flying mud and very little else, oh and this was because Beeching's report said the bridge was weak and unsafe.

When one thinks of the Concordia and other groundings, one has to ask what if! what if some some out of control ship does the same thing in the Thames and rams the the Richard Montgomery, I know it's been there for years, but with modern ships with mostly emotronic gadgets
maybe not as easy to stop.

Thanks for that.That is the first time I have seen the full report.Most interesting. I served my apprenticeship with FC Stricks,two years of which were with cadet Michaei Dawson on SS Serbistan who died on the Seistan.He was a lovely lad.His parents had a B&B in Brighton and he took me to visit.
