Inch green Drydock
The large drydock in Greenock owned by Peel Ports has been leased to Atlas Decommissioning.
The company is hoping to scrap a number of ships per year at the D. D. Facility, with the first arriving January 2022.
So far 15 people have employed and this will rise to 30.

Re: Inch green Drydock
Didn't Atlas have a decommissioning yard on the Tyne where they dismantled US Reserve fleet vessels, because USA yards would not handle them because of toxic content (asbestos). I note that just recently three Victory ships were released from the reserve fleet and towed in tandem to the Far East for dismantling because of asbestos content. I understand there are approx 90 (I stand to be corrected) Victory ships still in the reserve fleet, so business opportunities are still there

Re: Inch green Drydock
interesting you mention hartlepool tony .....i was fortunate to go out with the lifeboat there some years ago a fine lifeboat and crew ...i was most impressed also with a small rigid .....which a female drove ....more than i have seen.... her approaches to the bigger lifeboat and coming alongside all points on the lifeboat under way were a fine show of seamanship ....and of course the hung monkey on there lifejackets was a very proud insignia of there town and history .....cappy
