Default Don't mess with the cook

A chief cook has been arrested after stabbing to death the ships captain, apparently he stabbed him 45 times in the chest, obviously a man who was thorough in his work.

Having a cleaver up the gulf can be very serious.

#1 Interesting story about the deaths John . Does the gcaptain site go back to 1972/73 . There is a similar story about deaths on a ship by one of the members on this site. I added to it as the previous trip to him the master was stabbed but did not die. When he thought he was I had to listen to his last will and testament whilst trying to staunch the blood , unfortuanetley he was lying on my bed at the time so until the sheets were got rid of slept on the deck , but that was a couple of days later. I have the names of the participants and the near enough date of occurrences , would be interesting to see any public reports of these occurrences . I never appeared as a witness and was involved in the turbulence throughout . The ship was the Rosewood as has been mentioned before. I promise not to be traumatised by reading of all those and the blood involved . Maybe Graham who seems to have a lot of info.on the past may also know something about how these occurrences were reported to the general public by some of our maritime shore geniuses . Cheers JS.

Just an additive to this on British ships.... There is a dept. or was in Scotland Yard a group who were always ready to investigate any deaths through violence on ships and were ready at a moments notice to fly anywhere in the world to any British ship. I learned that through this site a number of years ago privately through a contributing member at that time who retired as I think it was chief inspector. I believe what he told me ,also they had mementos from different ships in the murder room , and that’s where The Rosewoods forecastle head bell finished up .Cheers JS

#6.. my own post just went on the search machine of the site and put in Rosewood . The retired chief Inspector was Peter Dougherty , and my memory is not as good as I make out as was not a private message and only a couple of years ago. Basically however what I said is correct. I did put the masters name in but have no doubt he is dead by now as was in his 60 s at time of occurrence . The felon has done his time and does not deserve to be named , unless of course I already have , but hope not. If however if anyone at the time followed the story would be nice to know how why and what came out of some unknown journalists mind. Cheers JS

Of course the murderer may well have had reason to kill the cook.

As was often said about them, there were three kinds.

Cooks, cuckoos and wilfull bloody murderers.

The manner in which some food came up was questionable.

Arrival in Cape Town, tourist head chef always made what he called 'Cornish Pasties' as a main lunch item'
He had two weeks from Southampton to collect all the bits that came out of the freezer the night before to fill them.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

That's what you get when you complain about the food being placed on your plate with tweezers, a la cart.
