There's always a grammatical pedant lurking somewhere.
    Today, it's me.
Wind Turbines we are on the 'up', but WindMILLS are almost, (but not quite) extinct in the UK. They are used for grinding corn !

"John, I agree with your comments regarding wind turbines. I would go as far to say that installing these monstrosities as far as Scotland is concerned will do more damage to Scotland than any other previous event in Scottish history."

I think I felt a big sigh of relief that blew across the North Atlantic...coming from England. For once dear old Jolly must be happy to come in second in Scotland.

    The 'Eyesore of Eyesores' is-
Whitelee Wind Farm situated on Eaglesham Moor which is about ten miles from the centre of Glasgow. It is one of the largest wind farms in Europe with a total amount of 215 wind turbines.
Once upon a time Francis Drake said 'Woe is my crew'. 'It stands for working in excellence'.
Whereas I say 'Woe is for wind farms'. 'It stands for ' Worst of Eyesores'.

Here in Oz we have had many wind farms knocked back because of where they were to go.
To make best use of wind many would be in what is the main flight path of many birds.
The environmental lobby group have done well on this matter.

Now we have some problems with the very large solar farms.
WE have plenty of sun here so solar makes sense but now scientists are saying the land under these is becoming toxic from lack of sunlight and will have detrimental effect on wild life.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

My honorary son in Germany built and owns three and is a 40% partner in two others. I've not only seen them, I've been inside them and up to the top of them. That said, 240 of anything is an eyesore, including 240 chorus girls doing a knees-up.

I did read some time ago that there were plans to build a big wind farm off the west coast of UK, but it was dumped as for about 9 months of the year the wind would be too strong.
That is the one problem with any form of energy production that relies on the weather to perform.

We have the largest Wind Farm in the world off our east coast, and many more dotted around the coast as well as on land. Must be a nightmare for coasting men with the many prohibited areas now in force, gone are the shortcuts between banks to catch a tide at the next port, then again coasters are now bigger than vessels we used to cross the Atlantic in.

I have nothing against wind farms but I do question at times the decision as to were they are placed. Were I lived in Wirral there was a massive wind farm in direct view across Liverpool bay and off the Welsh coast. To be honest you actually became blind to them.
Why do we not invest more into tidal power. There are days when the wind don't blow but never a day when the tide don't flow.
Lewis these wind "farms" received large government subsidies to build them and the cost of electricity does not come down, just the opposite. We have then around the coast and Donald Trump was the main objector as they would spoil the view from his Trump International Golf Course. This was a bit rich as it was built on a site of SSSI the local council refused permission for it but were over ruled by The Scottish Government in Edinburgh with the hope Trump would back the S.N.P.'s ( Strathclyde Nuppty Party's ) push for independence.
In the mean while up around the Orkney's with very little government aid they have tidal power up and running a more reliable form of electrical generation.
Trump didn't get his way and the turbines were built.
