A good day.
Attended St Nick's today. Wonderful service. Lots of dignitaries, at least three Lord Mayors and an ocean of gold braid and scrambled egg. Nice march to Pier Head for service at MN memorial. Wreaths laid speeches made. Tea and tabnabs were available at the Museum of Liverpool, I made my way to the Liverpool Arms, had a chat, raised a glass or two for absent friends. Weather was kind. It was a good day.
Gilly.

Re: A good day.
As a postscript to yesterday's post re MN Day, I was pleased to notice many buildings on the Liverpool waterfront proudly flying the Red Ensign. All the iconic waterfront edifices, plus the Town Hall and St George's Hall acknowledged MN Day. The service at St Nick's began at noon, I arrived 11.30 and it was heaving outside in the churchyard, and as most of us will know of Ma Boyle's pub virtually next door where several smartly dressed ex mariners were already settled outside. A glance skywards confirmed the sun was over the yard arm (just). Cheers!
