As far as I know the bay of Fundy has the largest tidal range of anywhere in the world. Go ashore in saint john new Brunswick and to get ashore you would have to clamber up a near vertical ladder, coming back you could just step onto the bridge wing.
The Humber estuary has the biggest tidal range in the u.k. if I am correct with the pentland firth having the strongest tidal race of anywhere, again if I am correct.

Fleetwood has a range of 10.3 metres. I dont know how big that is compared to the other places.
St Johns, NB is fantastic
. A pain for the watch moving the gangway. The Empress of France used to disappear at low tide.

In the channel islands the range of tide is 33 feet, i know i had to study them really well when sailing that area, my 25 hp diesel flat out would do 6 knots. Get it wrong and you could have some anxious moments, kt

St Johns NB was where our main mast came crashing down on the Basford, loading logs with the gears one minute then with a crane lowering them down as we were below the wharf the next. The other place with as big a tidal range is in Coffs Harbour in Northern N.S.W.

Fair go Des, Coffs doesn't have big tides. Sunday 22nd will be full moon when you can expect a decent rise and fall but here are the figures.

Ah ! But the credible ones will say that is above chart datum , and chart datum is usually mean low water spring tides. Can anyone say what the actual height of the oceans of the world are above the seabed , before we put all the man made bits and pieces on top ? Anyone study oceanography and can answer a lot of questions we all have. ? At least I do as know very little about it. Maybe a bit like the string vests discounting the underpants , how long is a piece of string ( in a string vest ) Cheers JS.

I believe tides this way are among the highest in the world.

Often seen reported, Barry's stretch of coast, on the Bristol Channel,
has the world's second highest tidal range of 15 metres (49 ft), second
only to Bay of Fundy in Eastern Canada.

Very true Lewis, the Thames is a tidal river even though it begins well up stream.

Low tide you will see the local police looking for bodies, figures say about 4 per week wash up.

Try NW Australia for size. Over 10 m regular and race through Mary Anne passage of Derby, not even local 16knoters tried at full race.
Attended a small tanker which tried it and went aground sternfirst with both anchors down, and twisted rudder stock.She was doing her 13th trip into Derby, the previous 12 with a pilot and on all these occasions was neap tides. Just shows you how careful you have to be.
