Hello. Just a quick update on my search. My grandfather's seamans pouch finally arrived from the national archive and I'm now waiting on his CRS10.

The contents of his pouch contains a few certificates of competency and an application for a discharge book with the reason given "continuation". So I take from this that he did infact have an earlier one which would have covered his war years and the one we have is just the most recent.

There is a CR1 card in his pouch which dates back to 1943. It says on the back "issued on entry into the merchant navy reserve pool." Can anyone explain what this means?

It also states the ship name as Empire Cabot, official number 168928, Date of discharge 15.12.43.

From a quick google search I can see that this was a convoy ship. Can someone advise on how to find a crew list or something for this?

    Many thanks.
