    To ascertain whether he may have flown or not, you need to look at where he left his previous ship and date of leaving, even then you may not get a definitive answer, as my father left a ship in New York (hospitalised) and joined another ship in New York two weeks later. Others have been hospitalised in Canada and trained down to USA to join another ship

    on a btc tanker outward bound for a 11 monther ....the cooks father was dying .....the coook told the old man he wanted to be out ...the old man put him ashore in gib .....i saw him months later in shields the old man and agents had got him on an RAF cargo plane home ....the old man was the one rescued from the altmark in norway ...we picked a cook up in turkey a few days later ......yet another young edh from shields got a message from home by sparky telling him his young son had been run over and killed ....this off maracaibo in a shell tanker ....he was aboard till we paid off a few months later that was not a happy time for most aboard.....the guy was much liked person
