Seeing as we have got to accommodation, seem to remember when single cabins came in, many crew cutting holes in bulkheads so they could talk to their mates.

Think they would have appreciated more money than anything else. JS
There were some AB on UClLthat would have been very happy with pink curtains in their cabin.
But the ship Vernon put up looks a lot like that yacht Cappy used to own, must have sold it.

21 crew on that thing, not much with a problem at sea, even getting lines ashore for mooring i would think difficult, but then i had heard in some cases extra shore gang are put aboard to cope with tying up and letting go. strange old shipping world these days, kt

Things are going to get stranger, a USA company has ordered 6 x 78 metre (253') unmanned vessels for work in the research and offshore industry, in the first few months they will keep a couple of men on board to monitor the computers. Hope these couple of men get on, may even come back married.

That’s the idea, is to form their own union. Will they get paid while consummating it ? JS

Well I recognise the focstle head and the stern and I think the lump of accommodation going forard must be the centre castle and that probably means the lump towards the ar*e end must be the equivalent of a stern castle. Beside that , it is the most utilitarian vessel I have seen on this site since someone posted a photo of the new Virgin cruise ship, the difference between the two being that on the latter you might at least be able to have some fun. These modern container ships seem to go around the world in about 80 days and with just 21 crew where is the fun in that ?? I am led to believe that they are dry ?? Imagine if you wanted a Bar-B-Q where would you have it ?? A crossing the line ceremony and wash down in the ships 'swimming pool' What pool ??. Hey anybody feel like a few hands of crib or fancy a quiz ?? No way Jose. I know things have moved forward in vast leaps and bounds since most of us on this site were at sea but if that is what the modern seafarers have as a career I am glad I am retired and ashore.
