    Default Just the name Rowe

    .i was in the British tanker company ....later BP ...british defender .....the chief cook was named Rowe......he was what i would call aguy not to be messed with .....he was from a hard background by his demenour........he was put ashore in mena al ahmadi .....for an attack on another crew member with a cleaver......i have mentioned the story on this site before.....perhaps a crew list on the british defender would give his initials.....his age would have been at a guess 35 to 40 he was a good cook and a decent stick ...but as said ....you would think before you spoke to him......cappy ps when we arrived back in the UK months later we paid off in falmouth and the police came aboard there to take statements.....capppy

    Cappy, Reminds me of the time I was on the Sara Bowater. Working by with a scouse cook. One day one of the deck hands and the cook had an argument. Cook said 'on deck'. I was rushing*to finish what I was doing, so I could watch. The cook came right back into the Galley. All he said was. 'One less for dinner'. Did an eight month trip on her. If he walked into the mess at meal times, you could hear a pin drop. He was a good cook though.
