The DORSET was sank and the crew in the lifeboats landed in French North Africa. They thought they were safe, BUT the French interned them in a PoW Camp and then later handed them over to the Germans who took them to Germany to be interned there.

This topic keeps on and on because I keep finding interesting items such as the nine medals awarded to Chief Engineer Spence and the report by Captain Tuckett, the Master of the 'SS Dorset' on Convoy Pedestal.

Has anyone found an account of the Dorset ? and what happened to the survivors, the only report on it i can find says they were taken on board a destroyer, kt

Hello Brian, It would be appreciated if you can provide evidence of what you have written in your post.
Captain Tuckett stated in his operational report that all his crew were taken aboard HMS Bramham.

I read about it a long time ago possibly in a SEA BREEZES magazine.,
I think one man, a Fireman, from Oldham, was killed,
I will keep on searching.
