Jail House Rock
Here we go again, The Master of the 'New Diamond' is to be charged with Criminal negligence by the Sri Lankan Govt for allowing a fire to start in the engine room of the vessel and could face jail time. He is also being sued for US$1.88 million for clean up and firefighting costs by the Sri Lankan Navy, no doubt the the Indian Govt/Indian Navy will also join the legal action. Action is also being taken against the Chief Officer, no mention of any action against the Chief Engineer has been mooted so far, even though the fire started in his dept.
