One drowned off a beach in East London, South Africa.
One steward after the 1960 strike, on Empress of France, over the wall, Murder or Suicide?????
One AB rope around his neck jumped over te wall. Hung.
One AB fell from topmast, dead.
One Cook, burned to death in galley fire.
Mate and one AB in pump room explosion on ESSO TANKER
Steward dropped dead in 1st class dining room on Franconia.
One man in shore gang shifting ship in Liverpool on Franconia, crushed to death.....died six weeks later.
There are some more, including a murder, accident on deck and a detective found dead in his bunk, also six wounded Foreign Legionaries we rescued from Viet Nam

Re: Lost at sea
One AB assumed jumped over the wall, last person to see him said he was standing by his cabin door with a suitcase, said he was going home and waiting for a bus. The witness said he thought he was pissed (not unusual in his case) and carried on.
Sad really, as I suspect these days his sometimes eccentric behaviour would have been picked up on. He was a very intelligent guy who had lost his way really, very nice chap to talk with.

Re: Lost at sea
One ab washed overboard
Electrician died at sea
One o.s. disappeared. After been put in an ambulance in Antwerp, inquiries into his welfare showed nobody had any record of him nor of any ambulance.! Being sent to the ship, our last view of him was him struggling with the ambulance crew

One AB from Glasgow, on the Stirling Castle, killed by a shark while trying to rescue a man overboard, (an attempted suicide, a dbs, picked up
in Capetown was working in the galley). The man who died was buried at sea that night.

A First Chef on the QE2 I was working with took his own life, never really found out why other than his son ashore had got into bother and family problems. A great shame as he was a smashing guy everyone liked him and an excellent Chef taught me alot.
