    Default Discharge Book numbers 1940's

I hope you Merchant Navy History buffs can help, I am researching my dad's seagoing records during 1944 to 1946, as I live in Japan I cannot get to Kew to look at the archives at present and the records are not digitised, I do not want to order documents until I know what is in them.
In the Kew Records my dad has Discharge A numbers R327732-R327904, R327767, does this mean he was on three vessels and what will be in the "pouches".
As you all know Discharge Book's in the 70's and 80's (my time), UK........ Number and it was a "book", any information would be of help so I can understand the system at that time.
I have placed my dad on the Vessel, Samcebu in July 1945 and Fort Simpson 1945/46, but I think he may have had a vessel in 1944/45.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Peter
First off a person only got one Discharge Number, so he could not have three!
The Seamans Pouches contain basic info on him joining, so always best to apply for the CRS10 which would have his full Service Record with Ships served on etc.

Do you know how to go about getting a CRS10 ?? If not reply and i will then loo up the Link and post same here!
    Cheers

Please give his Full name Place and DOB (Year will do( so as i can look up his Number as above Numbers do not seem to match the name of Empson
    Thank s

    Hi Doc,
Thanks for the reply, I don't know where to get the CRS10,my dad's full name is Charles Robert Empson, DOB is 16/07/1926, in Kew he is listed as C R Empson, 16/07/1926, South Bank, but he is registered as born in Middlesborough, I found that he was OS on the Fort Simpson in 1945/46
In the 1940's Middlesbrough must of had a pool office as it was a major port, so I would assume he was registered with the pool.
This is the Kew record information.
    BT 372/821/33
    R327767 EMPSON C R 16/07/1926 SOUTHBANK

    Thanks again !!!

Yes well as you can see by that Link he only had one Number which is correct for his Pouch.

His CRS10 Service Record should be held in this Series covering all names within that Series.
So when applying you will have to quote this Reference Number ,as well as his Poucj Number, otherwise you will land up with Hundreds of Names!@
