I penned this piece some years ago to commemorate a friends milestone birthday, tweaked it a bit for this forum but I'm sure none of it applies aboard here.
Ode to a dotage
The age of dotage closing fast
Short on future long on past
Memory fading, eyesight too
A misused body one does view.
Waist that thickens hair that thins
A Profile bearing several chins.
With dodgy hips and afternoon kips
Hobbling- soon on walking sticks.
But as the years they take their toll,
Sliding down lifes slippery pole,
Do not despair
Do not distress,
There's free viagra on the nhs.

Sad some are there already.

In Denmark people started an initiative called "The Human Libray". Inside certain libraries you can choose to 'borrow' a person - instead of a book - to listen to the history of their life for about 30 minutes. The point? Limiting prejudice. Everyone has a 'title' such as 'Unemployed', 'Refugee', 'Bipolar', or what have you - but once we listen to their story, we will always be given reasons to realise even deeper - why we should never "judge a book by its cover"

Hey John. Did you know that not only do the blue pills stiffen the backbone they are now, reputedly, good for overcoming memory loss. I suppose that this will assist those of us who have forgotten why we did "it" in the first place.

A guy I know who has serious MS was given some in the hope it may help to strengthen his limbs.
He told me his legs went fully stiff.
