As I have said many times, choose the Company , the Ship and Itinerary well and it is the best vacation you can have,.

I have been sailing round the world since I retired in 1996 and have Never been disapointed yet.
We had seen more of this planet than most people will ever do and more than I did in 45 years of seafaring. Had many great adventures from the Antarctic to the Tahitian Islands, to the far east, Spice islands OZZ, NZ. round Africa the whole of North and South America, etc, etc , etc.
There virtually no where that we have never been to.
It is a Great Life. To be stuck in a hotel for two weeks vacation must make for a very boring holiday.
I have met and had drinks with several Movie stars, celebs. High ranking politicians from many countries and many many famous people and many friendly people from around the world who we still keep in touch with.
Makes Life worth living.

I for one are missing the floating carbuncles.
Like Kong I also engage in interacting with the crew.
Apart form taking about our times, which always brings interest, I also make sure I keep the barmen busy.
Well you have to do your bit to make sure they are well employed.

Since retirement have been on a number of cruises from on the Canberra to today's floating cities and have enjoyed them all visiting and viewing at leisure all the places I saw only briefly when at sea. The Canberra was the most interesting because of her connection with the Falklands conflict with pictures and reminders of her history throughout the ship.

Carnival, owners of Holland America cruise liners, are selling a number of Holland America line ships whilst getting delivery of new Italian built ones for different subsidiary companies.

Victoria , once the bug gets you that is it.
There is no other way to vacation, great times, easy times and paces to see.
But just being on deck and watching the bow wave does it for me, pure nostalgia.
