There are a number of cruise ships up for sale just now.
Many have a number of years behind them, Sun Princess is now 24 years old.
As they reach their sell by date new ones replace them, they do not last for ever.

Years ago it was considered that a ship had a useful life of about 30 years.
There were exceptions as well, the Windsor Castle lasted almost 45 years, but there have been some scrapped after a couple of years service.

#4 whenever that name Sunprincess appears it always takes me back to 1967 , when I was mate on her. She must have been the original , being built in about 1943 in a U.S. yard of Liberty ship design , and class of C1A which does not stand for Central Intelligency Agency , carried officially 12 passengers sometimes a bakers dozen and was under Liberian flag and owned by an American company.
The collision between her and the Harrison’s vessel in the Little Bocas was well
Before my time so no one can blame me. Those were the days, Island in the Sun and the banana boat song were in
Vogue then both ashore and afloat. Cheers JS.

The facts the man said, just the facts.

Whilst there are a number of cruise ships up for sale it does not mean the end of them.
Many will be sold by the owner in order to raise capital, they will then be leased back.

A common practice in many industries, so the sale of the P&O ship is nothing new.

Here in Oz P&O Australia only buy ships for sale from other companies, several currently in use come from Princess and Holland America.
