Re: Kent messenger
Nostalgic memories of the RM come to me whenever I hear about her as l lived on the Island and my brothers took me out to her for a close look in a 14 foot clinker built boat with a nine horse outboard. Around the end of the fifties and the derricks where still up on her then. Was taken to fort U6 that my bro was working on but on leave at the time. He was a gunner in the army and often said that all the hype about the land mines and bombs was a load of crap. He remarked that what company would ship such with the detonators intake it would be madness. Thinking back to what was said at the time. She was supposed to be loaded with ammunition and bacon so that is my bit on the RM and the fable about what she carried.
That's the way the mop flops.
My thanks to Brian for this site.
