About the limit of my knowledge John, ie Virgins are Rare = Volts over Amps equals resistance, but even that could be wrong, kt

Ironic that Shell did not carry electricians though.

Some had owners cabin, only ever once saw one in use. San Lorenzo at bottom of lake Maracaibo, two mysterious men came aboard and stayed in the cabin, had all meals in there, all the way to Rotterdam where they disappeared without being seen. Was told later they were SAS

Just been trying to count up from my discharge book , must be close. Over thirty times through the Suez, twice through the Panama. I loved steering through the Suez, although not much to see, what there was, I saw it all, from passing in the same channel to when they built the bypass, saving the tying up alongside.

During my seafaring days from 1942 there was one around the world trip on the Br.Might, from Feb 1951 to Dec 1951. After one or two Med trips from Abadan we took oil to Australia, then waited for charter in Singapore for weeks. Next to L.A to load oil to N.Z. Few stops there then to Panama and Texas for oil to Maracaibo, few more 'tween those ports until oil back to U.K. Not a Cruise but worth most every day, those were the days shipmates! Cheers, Eric

Going through Suez on the Paparoa in about 64.
We had the light boys on board as well as a number of other guys who were at that time compulsory to have on board for the whole trip along the canal.
We had to feed them so Scouce the cook made a big pot of beef and veg stew.

The second steward was gay and had a liking for Scouce who was not interested.
So he put a ham bone in what was left of the stew and showed it to some of the men who had eaten it.
All being good mossies they were horrified, many sticking fingers down their throats to chuck up.

Scouce was not flavor of the month and we were sure they would have killed him.

He spent the rest of the trasnition locked in the chain locker.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

And iv'e been around the Block too! LOL

But the World was our Oyster then Lads and many saw things that would shock, and scare the daylights out of some of this Generation.

Yes i too have been around the World, not as much on Ships as many here, but by Land and Air have seen and experienced much.

Would'nt change things for the World ,except as i have mentioned a long time ago would have liked to stay at Sea a lot longer than i did,but thats life and i took what was dished out to me!
Learned a lot very fast from a young age, just had to like many here did.
Yes iv,e had a good life even with the bad times, but thank goodness there were many more Good than Bad!
    Cheers
