Comment too far
Watching the BBC news tonight 'we now move to our correspondent in Scotland' the occasion was congratulating a lady who had reached the veritable age of 101' next comment was from the Scottish correspondent 'here you are Mabel (or whatever her name was) a congratulations card from the Queen whom many think are comedy royalty'
We all have personal views on certain matters and members of the said family but personally I do think that particular correspondent should be censured or sacked for making such a comment on our National broadcasting medium which does go worldwide. I know Scotland wants its independence, but that is a different matter to respect for two elderly ladies. Just my view, and correspondents are there to report the news and not to air there personal prejudices

Re: Comment too far
The problem with so many aspects of the media is the people who work there, or maybe thta should be employed there.
Some comments go beyond the pale, any thing to get a reaction is all they want.
Most would not be able to hold down a job in real life.

Re: Comment too far
Absolutely Ivan, H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth will be 100 years old herself if god spars her in a few years, I or anyone else cant call the shots for any of us, But how long before we see Queen or King celebrate there platinum jubilee on the thrown, And what a life she has had and done. Nothing but the very greatest respect for her and that young reporter should be sacked if he suggested anything that causes her more forlorn, The rest of the Royal family can take a nose dive in the Thames for me, But she is and always will be a very special Monarch, And unless anyone knows something i don't she is still very active in all military matters a quite remarkable lady for her age. Terry.

Re: Comment too far
Terry, her Maj has set the bar so high very few can reach it and there is nothing wrong with that.
If half the polis, half the population and even some of her family had even treid to reach that level it would not have been easy.
The most respected leader of any nation across the globe, sadly her passing will leave a void that may never be filled.
God bless her.

Re: Comment too far
Just another little Press gem. The remains of two bodies were discovered in a field in Yorkshire last year and have been identified as two airmen lost on active duty in 1944, according to the Press they also discovered the remains of their jet fighter. As far as I recall (I stand to be corrected) the RAF did not have jet fighters in 1944, in fact the two RAF men were flying a Mosquitoe when they disappeared.

Re: Comment too far
You are correct there Ivan, first jet aircraft was not until close to 1950.
Germany it is said did have one but never used it in the war.

Re: Comment too far
What about the Vampire and Gloucester Meteor. Saw a magnificent flying display at end of BIggin Hill runway. Gates closed across road as we approached. 4 Meteors took off in tight formation. 4th. did a tight inside out turn at end of runway and climbed vertically until almost out of sight, then dived at end of runway before flattening out, upside down flying the length of the runway and then repeated several times. All hand driven, no computers in those days.
