List of Arctic Stars issued to date Nov/2019
Hello everyone, I'm someone who got great assistance from many individuals on this website a couple of years ago. We received our great uncle's Arctic Star about 18 months ago after great advice received here and a visit to Kew.
I'm guessing the numbers I'm sharing are well known but I'm posting them just in case. I'm a member of the Irish Parliament and these figures come from Lord Ashcroft.
All the best, John

Very interesting, but quite shocked by the relatively low number of MN compared to RN. My uncle is one of the MN who now has the Arctic Star posthumously. I’d never detract from the great heroism of the navy and other armed services escorting allied Convoys, but the whole point of a convoy was the MN. I try to pass that message on whenever an opportunity arises.

It would be interesting to see a similar list
comparison re: Ushakov.

Hi Alan, completely agree. When I received the figures the low MN no. compared to the RN no. popped out immediately. I'd be interested to hear why people think the MN figure is so low. John
