    Default Tuxedo Royale

The floating night club that used to sit under the Tyne bridge, has just been towed to the scrap yard on the Tees after lying idle for years in Middlesbrough.
As she was the last example of a turbine driven cross channel ferry there had been attempts to rescue it but to no avail.

Hey Des, maybe if he had spent a bit more there she would not be going for scrap.

It was a bit of a dump before it left the Tyne for Tees. Her predecessor Tuxedo Princess was same. poor lighting, not so much to promote atmosphere but more likely to disguise poor decor. I do recall the carpeted areas being sticky, it was advisable not to stand still for too long or you may have have stuck permanently ha ha!

The tuxedo princess that was the first floating nightclub in Newcastle, had a sister nightclub in town and there were free passes on the tables there that gave you entry to the Princess. The nightclub, Tuxedo Junction, actually ran a disco bus between the two venues so you could carry on partying whilst en route between the two venues. Think it was the Tuxedo Junction that had telephones on each table so if you saw a girl sitting at another table you could phone that table and talk to her, always assuming she did not give you a mouthful of abuse for disturbing her night out.

I remember a night club in Hamburg, early 60s with the telephones on the table, the name escapes me, perhaps others may remember it. There were some real turn ups with the calls, which got more raucous as the night progressed, kt

But Des that was the place.
Ladies on sale in the shop windows, some very good bargains to be had as well.
Wonder if it still goes on?
