Re: Sidney Federick Tyrrell Merchant Navy cook 1905 onwards
Hi Keith, sorry only just seen my emails. Yes this is my family. Thanks for that. I have this information and also going back several more generations. I am just trying to pad out my research now and with Sidney being such a character I thought I would start with him.

Re: Sidney Federick Tyrrell Merchant Navy cook 1905 onwards
Hi Julie,
I've checked the 1915 Crew Lists and although there are many TYRRELL/TYRELL I couldn't find a Sydney.
For others searching for simillar records it's worth checking out , I was part of the team that transcribed all the ships crew lists for 1915 with the Maritime Museum Greenwich and it is a very useful tool.
Regards
David

Re: Sidney Federick Tyrrell Merchant Navy cook 1905 onwards
Hi David, thank you for looking. My Granddad told me that Sidney may not have served in WW1 but if he was in the merchant navy rather than the royal navy would he have served? His occupation was cook/confectioner on the 1901 and 1911 censuses. In 1901 he wasn't in the navy but in 1911 I am sure it said he was but I will have to go back and check my notes.
Thanks again
Julie
