Default Supertanker collision in the Caribbean

On this day in 1979, the vlcc Atlantic empress collided with the Aegean captain in the Caribbean. The resulting fire claimed the lives of 27 crew members of the vessels, 26 from the Atlantic Empress. The resulting oil spill was the largest ever ships oil spill.

    Hi John.
How easily we forget these disasters, but it helps to remind us how lucky we were when we sailed on those volatile tankers, what is happening in the gulf is a disgrace putting all those seamen's lives at risk, just so that a few big headed men think they are invincible.
    Cheers Des
