These two articles caught my attention, are today's seafarers ignorant/stupid or just plain greedy.

Re: Engine room bilge discharge/drugs bust
Hi John.
Drug running these days has gone up market. Police here in Sydney have arrested one of the States biggest horse owners and trainers over the importation of tons of cocaine. One of his horses won the richest race in the world the winning prize $7 million. He started as a baggage handler at Sydney airport and his off sider was still working there getting the drugs off the planes coming from South Africa, reckon they made $millions over the past ten years. And to think that we were picked up for trying to smuggle two hundred ciggies .

Re: Engine room bilge discharge/drugs bust
Hope they get what they deserve, drugs are a menace, and cause untold misery, my own nephew was murdered in London last year, by a drugged and boozed up women with a broken bottle and scissors, he had lead that life for some years. Maybe i lead a sheltered life when i was at sea,i came ashore in 1965, we did much drinking, but i can honestly say i was never offered drugs, and was not aware of any of the crew taking/smoking drugs, kt
