Hi Mike ... I love these old photos that you have posted of the two Kiwi main ports and I just wish I was in a position to present them to the two Maritime Museums in those ports with a plea to have them displayed , that's how passionate I felt about this sort of memorabilia missing from the displays ... I was there for too short a time in 2017 to follow that sort of thing through but maybe a member or two living in these ports may read this and try to follow through on my suggestion ... one can only hope.

Like so many other ports around the globe Wellington has changed to the degree that no one who was there in the 60's would even see a close resemblance of what it was then.
Old photos such as these very often are all that is left to remind us.

Nice photos Mike, looks like Shaw Savills Southern Cross on the middle photo. Had my 21 st birthday there back in the 70's whilst with Shaw Savill. Bonus being a 4 week dock strike whilst discharging

I was in Wellington a few weeks ago and there was just one cargo ship in there and our ship AMSTERDAM,

First one looks very much like one of the inter island ferries. Maybe the 'Aratika' sold to Phillipino interests and renamed 'Virgin Mary'.
    Southern Cross in another.
