Hi Mike.
I have painted anchors, we had a heavy wire strop from the shackle to the bits as a precaution, also the claws where engaged. The only puzzling thing is that the rope ladder is not hanging down in case they have to get up quickly .

A few years ago while working on the South Steyne in Darling Harbour, there were two Indian seamen working off a barge touching up the paint work on a liner , they had so much safety gear on that if they had fallen into the water they would have sunk.
