We shall certainly miss her this year and our annual trips on her - Bristol Channel.

Hi Rob hope you are well, thank you for the WAVERLY update, I suppose it's to be expected that after
45 years wear and tear will take it's toll. Hopefully past day trippers from all around the UK will chip in
to keep the old lady sailing. It sounds like a pretty big job and they will probably have more work to do
once the boilers are removed, it will be worthwhile missing a season if it means preserving her for the
    future, cheers

    Update via Waverley Excursions

    ***THANK YOU***

We would like to thank everyone for their support over the past 48 hours since we announced Paddle Steamer Waverley has been withdrawn from service.
Many have already donated which is fantastic. It is heart warming that Waverley is getting such support as we know she is worth fighting for.
We have received many messages offering ideas on fundraising and offers of help which is very much appreciated. Please bear with us as the small team at Waverley prepares the appeal. We now need to get firm costings for the work required as we know supporters will want a clear target.

That must be very heartening for the charity and everybody involved in her repair and the volunteers
that crew her, it's great to see people rallying round to show their appreciation of the good times aboard.
    Thanks Keith, cheers

Though she is dear to many, my home town's connection is well known.

The earlier Waverley was moth balled on the South coast between wars,
our PS Barry conducted her duties in peacetime and bore her name.

The PS Waverley was needed for Dunkirk and sailed under her own title but,
was sadly lost. The PS Barry sailed as HMS Snaefell, though she survived the
encounter was sadly lost later in an air attack off the North coast.

The present Waverley will hopefully, be able to sail again. A reminder of both
pleasure sailings and those lost at sea in wartime.
